A hidden gem in Westport ! I sadly thought this placed only had " baked" items- I stopped on a sunny day and found they have a great breakfast menu with eggs, etc as well as a lunch option,. Food was superb- waiter was bland but effective. Lots of items I want to try- had the smoked salmon eggs benedict which was fantastic ! Check it out !

Went for brunch after checking my fellow yelpers comments and it did not disappoint! We had the ham & cheese omelet, chicken fried ribeye & biscuit and gravy. The home style potatoes are great too. Everything was hot, fresh and quite tasty! I liked the location as well--small, local & inviting. The service was pleasant and attentive too. We got baked goods like cookies, the cinnamon roll, fig tart, espresso brownie & brown sugar bar & so far the items we've tried have been excellent as well! Would def go back next time I'm in the area.

This is an updated review. I went t oBaked for the second time and this experience was even better! The service was great. They had a dinner special, 4 courses for $35. Each course was gourmetly presented. The deviled egg salad was amazing, next the bacon wrapped eggs, then I had the Asian ribs, it was all wonderful. We will definitely be returning!

Nothing exceptional that would make me want to come back, My Husband & I had the burger- ordered Medium & it was dry & a bit chewy in the middle, quinoa salad-just ok, quiche-which looked squished but good flavors, fries & croissant were the only tasty thing in my opinion.

We visited about two weeks ago for breakfast. This was my third time dining in. I ordered Eggs Benedict with fried potatoes. The second the waiter set my plate down I could instantly see hair on the potatoes. Immediately I asked for fresh food. My plate was taken away for a few minutes and was redelivered with fresh potatoes, yet the same Eggs Benedict. Obviously they were cold. I ate them anyway. While the waiter seemed apologetic, I was then handed the bill with the full priced items. Not that I expected a free meal, but something would have been a nice gesture. We will not return.

Breakfast sandwich with bacon is dynamite!! Potatoes are quite brilliant too, great service, very friendly!! We'll be back!

The interior was OK. The service less than friendly and incompetent. Coffee was overpriced and very weak. Very disappointed. They were totally out of any savory rolls by 10 am. Cinnamon scone was nice.

Went here for brunch today, and wow what a mess. Is there some Kind of shortage of prime rib hash I don't know about? Our server didn't seem aware either... This place has a really well written menu, comfy booths a big wine glasses. Great for drinks. Our server on the other hand might have had special needs or was clueless about what his roles and responsibilities are as a server. The pros: My stuffed French toast tasted like a perkins truck stop dessert. My friend had a duck confit pannni that tasted like a salt lick. I am still hungry, and I am mad! Oh wait, are these pros?! SHUT IT DOWN!!!!!!!

This is a business made for Yelp reviews because it deserves a good, honest drumming-up. I walked in today looking like a vagabond with my overheated dog under my arm, asking for some water for him before I ordered the real food. Not only did the staff sweetly let me stay inside to cool him and help with the water, but they were kind, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. I came in-between hours so got some beautiful pastries, which were hard to choose from, and a prosecco that was a cool surprise to find there. Also not on the Westport main drag where you'll have to fight to the death for a parking spot. Cheers all around.

We had excellent, attentive service but mostly from the manager and the baristas. (Our server had tables outside, too, and we didn't see him often.) First and foremost the chocolate croissant was among the best I've ever had. Don't skip the pastries! The 4-cheese grilled cheese on garlic manchego bread was decadent and fabulous and the cheesy grits on the side were delicious. Topped off with Roasterie's Super Tuscan decaf espresso, I walked out stuffed and happy!

Don't miss out on this Westport gem. The Smoked Turkey Smoked Avocado sandwich is hard to beat. Also our super kind waitress turned us on to the Peach Sangria. There's too many things on the menu not to go back!

Absolutely delicious brunch! Corn beef and eggs melt in your mouth. Avocado eggs Benedict was a superb vegetarian choice. Service was fast and friendly. The decor is yummy!

So much more than a bakery. I stopped in to grab some lunch to go and it was Amazing. You definitely can't go wrong with the mint mojito tostada, meatballs, or crispy polenta. In fact, I just dragged my husband back the next day for breakfast. The breakfast menu looks incredible by the way. I haven't looked at a menu and been really excited to eat in awhile. Yum!!

Quaint and cozy little spot in Westport. Parked in lot by Mill Street and easily walked to enjoy my lunch. Delicious and generous chicken salad sandwich...absolutely amazing! Had fresh fruit for side. Fresh brewed iced tea on a hot Kansas City day was very refreshing! Server was attentive. Not too crowded at 2:00 in the afternoon. So many desserts to choose from. Had the brown sugar bar...pure decadence albeit the portion could have been more generous for $4.60 a slice. Dessert prices posted and tends to make one feel like.....nah, I can live without it. Overall, a nice experience.

Eh. Ok. I guess. Good coursants. Good cinnamon rolls. Anything baked. The rest was mediocre.

To be honest, we happened upon Baked after our first choice Westport restaurant was booked for Sunday brunch. Our party of 5 was immediately seated when we arrived at 11:00. The staff was friendly. Our food was really very good. Their breads were great, made fresh on site. I had the salmon BLT and others tried the regular and the veggie eggs benedicts. All got good reviews. One person tried to order the prime rib hash, but the waiter came back to say they were out of it. Already, at 11:00? I say the food deserves 4 stars. However I give it an overall 3 because we waited about 40 minutes for our food. Way too long.

When I took my first bite of their Jewish rye bread, I thought I was eating ambrosia with the gods on Mount Olympus. This is my favorite "go to" place for meals with friends. Great food, great service, great environment. They even have Guinness on tap! The patio outside is beautiful when the weather's good.

Let me start by saying we can't wait to go back! We chose this restaurant because I had a restaurant. com gift card. We sat outside on a beautiful Thursday night in KC. Our server was right there with water and our delicious coffee. My husband had the Salmon Cake Benedict with sweet potato fries. It was delicious! The fries were not your typical packaged fries, they were fresh. I had the Herb Omelet with creamy polenta. It was also amazing! We were too stuffed for dessert:(. We can't wait to return with our kids. Our server was very sweet and attentive! Don't miss out on this restaurant.

We stopped in mid afternoon for brunch food. This place was listed on yelp , so we gave it a try. Boy the food was great( we had salmon ) and the service was very good too. We will be back. Thanks for the prior reviews. That's why we stopped.

It would have been good, if I had been baked. Alas, I wasn't. I've had better, I can make better, not sure if I've had worse. If you like you vinaigrette heavy on the oil, non existent vinegar- this place is your jam. If you like chicken a la hair- proceed with care. If you like the sugar diabetes- ahhhh- what rhymes with diabetes???schmeties??? (ya, that works)- cappuccino mousse might come out the caboose? Okay- enough with the rhyming (ish) - went here during restaurant week and they did not bring their A-Game. Would I go back? Nope. Should you? -proceed with caution.

Veggie sandwich was delicious. Too bad the service was so poor. Once seated, the wait staff seemed to forget we were ever there. Probably won't be back.

My husband and I had brunch here. We started with some pastries. I had a chocolate hazelnut and an almond macaron ..... Yum! We also tried their Madeline with lemon glaze..... Yum #2! And the final pastry was a Brown sugar bar......yum #3! Their pastries are amazing! So much to choose from. My husband got the French toast with Praline Bacon and I ordered the special of the day, which was a corned beef hash. The food was amazing. Could not get enough of the bacon though.....so good. Let's just say we left satisfied. Baked in KC did not disappoint!

The other folks who have reviewed Baked obviously didn't order the mac & cheese. Best decision I made all weekend! It's considered a side dish, but the portion was almost a meal by itself. First impression, Baked seems like a great breakfast/brunch destination. I look forward to going back and trying more menu items. They did seem light on the baked goods, especially sweet options.

We came for brunch on a Sunday. There was a bit of a wait to get in, and so we sat at the bar. Not one person asked us if we wanted to start with a drink or anything, burner were kind of in a rush, but it was great and the people are super nice. Good wise, pretty traditional food, with just one flare of better quality options.

We have tried so hard to like this place. The idea is fun but I agree with the other reviews that it has a bit of an identity crisis. The bakery angle is not fully realized, poorly supplied and poorly staffed. The food options are pretty average and available a number of other places. We've gotten bakery items twice and on both occasions have stood at the counter unnoticed or acknowledged for extended periods of time. When we have been served, it's very cut and dry and there's just no connection that a place carrying the name that this one has should display. It's not all that French either - is it supposed to be? The disconnect between the decor and essentially every other detail is prominent. The food is good, but not great or memorable. The service exists, but again, it's not great.

Visited the shop this morning and was disappointed with the selection. They used to have a wide variety, where did it all go? Further disgusted by the lack of cleanliness. Visible dust bunnies were all over the bakery case. I will not be a returning customer any longer.

I love the chai and macarons. I have been craving for macarons and I finally got to pick some up on my way to work. I love that they open at 7 AM so I can pick up a good breakfast before work. I got to sample some bread pudding and they were phenomenal (I love that they did not put raisins in them). I will have to pick some bread pudding on my way home so that I don't eat them the entire loaf on my own. I have missed this shop every time I'm in Westport but now that I know they have good food, this will never be missed again.

Perhaps I should come for the brunch that everyone is raving about. I just can't get on board with Baked and their dinner. A friend made reservations on a Friday night for his 34th birthday party. There were about 20-25 of us AND it was the first night of restaurant week. I understand these are both very large things to deal with. But our server just wasnt into it at all. She was just so apathetic to everything; not mean by any means, but not nice either. We studied their $33 prix fix Restaurant Week dinner menu. I had the triple bruschetta for an appetizer, shrimp and grits for a entree, and the cappuccino chocolate cake for dessert. My appetizer was gone in 2 seconds and I have no real opinion on that. The shrimp and grits were good, but the shrimp was unpeeled meaning that you had to dig them out of the grits, peel them, and then eat them which did not please me one bit. The dessert was the best part: super delicious. I wish all the courses were as good as the dessert. Others at the table got a citrus salad and mentioned that it didn't taste like citrus at all. After tip, the total came to $84. A underwhelming meal that definitely wasn't worth the price.

My bestie and I showed up here last Saturday for breakfast and we were not disappointed. What a marvelous joint! I love the atmosphere and the little bakery in the front part. The servers were friendly and attentive. I had the pork chop with eggs over medium and potatoes and my friend gave me a piece of his brioche biscuit. Everything was divoon! I also had an ice cold pear beer and it was so refreshing! I will definitely be back. Very nice and enjoyable place.

Baked in Kansas City occupies the former Napolean Bakery beloved by Kansas Citians for years. Baked in Kansas is not Napolean Bakery. I hope, however, it continues to move forward toward becoming a solid option for food in the Westport/Midtown neighborhood. Our food on for breakfast/brunch was ok, but not great. However, it is rare to find a breakfast place that has edible food with good coffee. Too often I find the coffee is awesome but the food sucks or vice versa. BiKC meets the anomaly standard, a big plus in my book. The chicken fried steak (which is available in rib eye or pork tenderloin varieties) was meh. I really wanted this to taste amazing, but it was tricky acquiring taste to a breaded and fried rib eye when you know how good it tastes without the breading and frying. Side potatoes were tasty and crispy and a hit for my son who kept picking them off my plate. Biscuits and gravy were equally meh. The gravy was missing something - that punch of flavor you'd expect from sausage gravy. The table behind us sent their gravy back saying it was COA (cold on arrival). Ours wasn't but maybe it would have added something a little extra. For a bakery, the croissant make the meal. It met the qualifications of a solid pastry - just enough crisp on the outside, and just enough softness on the inside. The noticeable taste and smell of butter blending harmoniously in your nose and mouth. It was good, but only eaten by my wife and I because our son wouldn't touch it. I'll give BiKC another shot in the future. It wasn't horrifying but I've had better breakfasts around town.

I'm sad with my experience here and even more sad because I'll have to either find another brunch friend or try my darnedest to convince the BF to return. Arriving, there was plentiful seating outside on the patio as well as indoors. We walked in, asked for a table outside and got seated. I felt sorry for our waitress because it seemed as though she was the only one responsible for not only hosting and seating people but being a server as well. I ordered a coffee and water and the BF just a had a water as we took a gander at the menu. I ended up on the Veggie Eggs Benedict with the hollandaise sauce on the side. The BF got the steak and egg croissant with a side of bacon. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. After checking out what I ordered, I decided to not go with the hollandaise sauce over my food at all because it tasted like nothing other than butter. I actually asked the girl for another one since the first one I had received was separating and looked like a mixture of melted and unmelted butter. Completely grossed me out. The BF thought his croissant was fine but ended up eating it with ketchup (which is the guaranteed sign that he's not a fan... because in his eyes, ketchup makes everything better!). I must add that the table right next to us ordered the pancakes and when they asked for syrup, they were presented with a watery substance. When the guy asked for another one, the server said "We make the syrup in house... last batch came out thicker, the time before was almost a solid. We haven't figured it out yet." Highly recommend checking on what the syrup batch is like before ordering the pancakes (I love me some syrup!). The end of our meal ended with us trying to track down our server for the check. Which isn't normally a good sign. All in all.... I think the concept isn't too bad and the menu is filled with things that seem very appetizing. If they could pull the other things up to be consistent, they'd be ideal.

disclaimer: have not had anything besides their delicious baked goods. tip: dinner time they serve small plates, dishes range around $4~$8. I loved their lemon tart and fresh fruit tart ($4.50 each)! I asked the lady managing the counters how she thinks their tarts compared to whole foods (fruit tart to fruit tart comparison). with absolutely no hesitation she said their tarts definitely surpass whole foods' in quality and taste. freshest ingredients, sourced locally, and all made that morning. with that she had my friend and I convinced. sure enough I tried both tarts and couldn't agree more. yes, one could taste the premiere quality and freshness in these marvelous little treats. give their bakery a chance; i doubt you will regret it!

I've lived across the street from here for months, and finally took the plunge today for brunch. We ordered the "Avocado Benedict," and the "braised pork hash". The hollandaise was only the best ever in the whole world, and the pork shoulder hash with eggs tasted fantastic. The hash was more fall than spring, but it was sooo good. The service was friendly and prompt. We were helped by Brittany and she took such good care of us. 5 stars!

Holy cow! My taste buds are squeaing with unadulterated pleasure! The raspberry stuffed French toast was the single most decadent and truly awe inspiring treat that I've put in my mouth in a very long time! This is rich baby! And I mean Richie Rich kind of rich! The portion size was perfect. It was served in a single serving cast iron skillet...sizzling hot, oozing with thick delightful custard sauce around the slices of Brioche rounds. The addition of fresh raspberries is genius, it cuts the sweetness with lovely tart freshness. I will say, be aware that their omelette are lightly browned on the outside. My date was not a fan of the browned eggs. He said it was OK, but that he wouldn't order it again. But hey! Maybe you dig those crispy fried edges. Just a friendly FYI. I can tell you that his side of Brunch potatoes looked awesome and I had to use maximum willpower to not start picking them off his plate...one by one! Crispy, crunchy on the outside, yet soft interiors. Yum! The bakery display case is a veritable treasure trove of fiendishly alluring pastries, cookies, macaroons, tarts, bars, cupcakes, chocolate filled croissants, and crispy, yeasty breads. I want to move in! There is something calorie laden, yet mood altering for everyone. There is a large patio out front , replete with umbrellas that encourages whiling away the morning, sipping an espresso and people watching. Happy Hour Tuesday - Saturday 4-6 all appetizers and pastries 1/2 price with purchase of a cocktail or espresso drink. Daily specials after 4, like ... Tuesdays: 1/2 price bottles of wine with purchase. Wednesday : Mussels and 2 Martinis -$15 Thursday: Deserts and pastries 1/2 price with an entree. Friday: 1/2 price Sangrias Saturday: all draft beers $2 off I can't wait to come back...alone or accompanied by everyone I know! Yeah! It's that good!

Mmk. Two things. 1) good food 2) identity crisis 1) I've gotten the mac and cheese which was SO good. Sadly, they have taken it off of the menu. I've had the avocado turkey club which was definitely underwhelming, which is still on the menu. I've gotten coffee there a few times and it isn't anything special. Lastly I tried the chicken salad sandwich which was very good. 2) This place can easily pull off the coffee shop bakery sort of thing, but then it tries to be fancy with it's food, but then the furniture is cheap, it is extremely drafty (a serious, serious draft issue!) and just looks like they put a thick coat of paint over whatever was there before and called it remodeled, it just misses the mark. Trying to pull off the coffee/bakery/fancy food/alcohol thing is just too much. I think if they went for a panera type deal where you can order and sit, it would work really well. Update: they do still have their mac and cheese on the dinner menu, just no longer available for lunch

Baked. I have issues with their name. First of all, it implies that it's simply a bakery, which to my glee I discovered to simply not be true. Second, it conjures up images of cheesy "ain't it cool to be a stoner?" businesses (I'm looking at you, Freebirds) which it most definitely is not. I've been to Baked twice, and neither time was to visit their bakery. Instead I had a decadent lunch and a perfectly serviceable brunch. Let's talk about it! While their lunch menu is packed with a huge variety of options, I had narrowed it down to two: pork belly mac and cheese or a duck confit panini. Since I had had mac & cheese three times that week (i have a problem,) I opted for the sandwich and it was fan-frickin-tastic. The duck itself was awesome, and the sandwich came with pickled onions, swiss and stone-ground mustard. Delicious. Even better? I splurged and opted for the side of goose-fat fries. I'll have to go back for that mac and cheese, but at this point I am very happy with my decision. Then I returned with some friends for brunch. Dining on their patio with some delicious breakfast food and mimosas sounded like a treat! Everybody else raved about their food (classic breakfast, shrimp & grits, chicken salad sandwich), though I was a touch disappointed in my Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise was very good, quite rich and the eggs seemed poached well. I think It was the ham (a bit too crispy) and the English muffin that I couldn't get down with. Don't get me wrong, it was fine, but I am a Benny junkie and I wouldn't return to this one. Thankfully there are plenty of other things for me to try. Another thing RE brunch: They offer bottomless mimosas, which is awesome, but the $18 price tag really isn't. Now, they use fresh squeezed OJ and they taste great, and the place doesn't strike me as promoting copious day-drinking, so I can somewhat understand the inflated price tag. But here's the but: If I'm getting bottomless mimosas at any price, I want an attentive server who is on the ball with those refills. We didn't get that at Baked, maybe she was busy, but service in general was slow, and we only ended up with 4 mimosas, hardly my money's worth. I don't think that I'd return for that special. Overall, I am incredibly impressed with Baked and I want to just return and return and return and try everything they have to offer. Westporters should be happy to have such an awesome spot right in their back yard.

Big frappe teasers!!!!! I made reservation thru an app, got a confirmation, and a reminder. Before heading back to St Louis MO and back to Lincoln NE, we all packed our cars and headed here( opposite direction to home). Looking forward to our last visit together till who knows when. Menu and reviews looked good to everyone. Mouths watering, finding the place and parking, OPEN sign on...... They were closed for the holiday! Please convey my family's disappointment.

Meh. I'm confused by this place. One part of it is cute french bakery the other part is...I don't even know how to describe it...it's a failed attempt at a bistro. Had dinner with a group of friends here on a Friday evening. The food was really good and reasonably priced. The mac and cheese was phenomenal. The drinks were only ok, I had the Royal Sangria which is not wine but some other stuff that's too sweet. One friend got some whiskey drink that they loved, I don't like dark liquors so I can't opine. But there was noooooooo ambiance, it felt stale and boring. The service was good enough but I could not get over the blandness of this place. Sure, I'll have a coffee and croissant there some morning with a girlfriend before we hit the West Bottoms for first weekend shopping but that's it.

tldr; Excellent "tapas" type food with little extras on the menu that make it worthwhile for anyone. Just tapas as in small plates. I had 5 things on the menu. I am writing this mid food coma. I will be back to do it again. Their shrimp dishes hot and cold were outstanding, they knew how to treat a good prawn. The shrimp tostada has a cilantro avocado pesto that really is as good as it sounds. I also managed to snag a $5 margarita special which was so fresh(thanks to the actually fresh cut and squeezed limes) and worth significantly more than I paid. After my easy start I struggled to choose from so many small plates in the $3-8 range. I settled on the pork shoulder hash and GORGONZOLA RISOTTO FRITTERS which sat in a well spiced red sauce, plenty of tomato with enough spice to interest you. It was a very heavy dish but not too rich to make you sick from gobbling it all down. The hash was just a ton of fantastic ingredients in a bowl. The pork shoulder was all I had hoped and the sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts really hit all the right notes in a good hash. I'd be foolish to not mention the service. My waitress was full of smiles and good conversation and the chef made sure I enjoyed each thing I ordered. I can't ask for much more than excellent hospitality and well priced delicious food. I'll be back. A lot. P.S. Yes I actually ate all that. Yes I paid for it. I brought home desert but seriously can't look at it yet.

Whatever meal you're in the mood for, Westport's new artisan bakery has it covered. Located in the former home of Napoleon's, Baked in Kansas City offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch in addition to fresh bread and pastries. If you've been to The Majestic Restaurant downtown, a few menu items will look familiar here. That's because The Majestic's owner, Frank Sebree, also owns Baked. Some of the daily dishes include hearty sandwiches, soups, gourmet sausages, flatbread pizzas, quiches, sweet and savory pastries and homemade ice cream. There's also a full-service bar serving craft beers, wine and cocktails. I normally crave a carb-loaded, meaty brunch and Baked in Kansas City's Pancetta Benedict ($12) is all that and then some. It's loaded with crispy pancetta, sweet peppers, caramelized onions, jalapeños, poached eggs and hollandaise on top of fresh-baked, buttery focaccia. The homemade bread soaked in lemony hollandaise is paradise. I should mention the dish comes with your choice of side (breakfast potatoes, fruit, garlic grits, salad or your choice of meat). I opted for bacon. You'll get a taste of the The Majestic's signature prime rib when you order Baked's Prime Rib Hash and Grits ($11). It's made with The Majestic's tender beef, roasted garlic grits, poached egg and Hollandaise. There are some substantial chunks of garlic swimming in Baked's buttery grits. After consumption of this dish, I don't recommend being within close radius of anyone for the rest of the day. However, you should get up close and personal with the BKC candy bar - if it's not sold out by the time you arrive. Baked's most popular dessert ($4) consists of a crumbly bottom crust, crispy/crunchy caramel coating and a dense layer of chocolate topped with a thin sheet of caramel. I nearly trampled a small child en route to the pastry case to get the last one. But, ohhhh, the sweet taste of success.

Outstanding. 4 Cheese Mac & Cheese with Pork Belly was creamy and salty. Normally I do not enjoy swallowing... but in this case... I did! BKC Mussels were top 6 in KC. Definitely will come back! Just gotta wait for the standard 20 min wait or so...

Good for a classic breakfast. Got the avocado eggs Benedict and loved it! My English muffin was made in house. Pretty quick to get your food - homemade baked goods.

3.5stars, if that were an option. I didn't get to try any of the baked goods, but maybe on the next visit. Went for brunch and had the scallops and eggs Benedict special. The BF had the fried egg sandwich. Mine came with a caeser salad. Everything was delicious, including the Bloody Mary and Mimosa which were a large portion. Will definitely be back and I do recommend. Maybe next time I'll try the coffee.

Never a bad meal at BKC! Had a delicious herb omelette with a buttery biscuit. My fellow diner had the avocado eggs Benedict and creamy polenta. The candy bar is delicious and worth the $4.50.

Baked in KC is getting a mixed review, lol. Let me start by saying that we cannot wait to go back and eat off the regular menu! We also brought home lots of goodies from the bakery that have more then exceeded expectations! Unfortunately, the KC Restaurant Week special was a bit of a "ripoff". The food was good, but the portions were a joke! And the service we received was horrible. Our server should absolutely find another profession to make ends meet ASAP! And believe me, I'm being nice, lol. I had bruschetta w/ duck confit, basil pesto & goat cheese which was very good. The pork belly sliders were the size of a silver dollar & there were 2 on a large plate w/ NO sides. The pork belly was sliced thin like breakfast bacon. For $15, I was still VERY hungry after eating, lol. The couple next to us ordered off the regular lunch menu. One person had the eggs benedict & home fries, which filled up a large dinner plate for $11. They received great service from an engaging & attentive server. We also ordered a few goodies for dessert from the bakery that were excellent! Then we ordered a box full of bakery items to bring home, ha! The girl that rang up our bakery purchase was very nice & even have my mother a rose! So, I'm am expecting to come back to Baked in KC for a 5 star meal very soon. Unfortunately, I expect the service will be hit & miss. Still, I would highly recommend coming for the bakery or the brunch! Their dinner menu & nightly specials look good too! You should definitely give them a try!

I almost wrote another "cookie only" review the other day after I stopped in to Baked in KC for the first time, but felt a little guilty about that and waited. Not for long, though, because Yelper Daughter loved the Candy Bar I let her try so much she begged to go back and get another one. As ALWAYS happens when we go somewhere together, the visit involved way more than one item. The inside is all warm colors and European feel, but what pulls you in is the long case displaying all manner of beautiful carbohydrates, sweet and savory. We hesitated just long enough for a waitress to offer us menus and a seat. The "we're only getting a snack" battle was lost when I saw Cured Salmon Bruschetta. A few minutes later, out came two slices of slightly crusty house-made bread topped with the delicious salmon, sweet caramelized onions, spinach, creme fraiche and capers. The decorations complemented the salmon perfectly without overpowering it. The slices are a little bigger than what you normally see for bruschetta, making the order good for sharing, or a light lunch leaving room for the inevitable dessert. YD insisted on sharing some fries, too, also perfect for two people: skin-on, house made, a little crisp outside and fluffy inside, without flashy seasoning but really, really good. The big bowl they came in seemed to hold the heat in, which was nice. I was full, but YD ordered her Candy Bar, which is a layer of cookie crust topped with peanut butter and chocolate ganache (or something close). Well, the waitress either misunderstood or reached for the wrong thing, and brought out a pecan pie bar instead. This was no tragedy, however-I liked it even better! I also left with a baguette, chewy on the outside and fluffy inside, perfect with red beans and rice that night and as French toast the next. On my previous visit, I bought a chocolate chip and an oatmeal-cranberry cookie, and those were excellent. Left to try are the creme brûlées, coffee cakes, tarts, and too many other things to name. I'll keep you posted...

I have the feeling that Baked in Kansas City could very easily become Hubby & my new favorite place in the Westport area. First of all, they have a fabulous menu for Brunch, everyday except Monday (closed) that is served from opening to 4 p.m. Second, there is a large and excellent menu of selections - made up of the "usual suspects" (i.e. eggs, omelets, quiche, burgers, turkey & ham sandwiches, even pancakes and French toast) as well as some unexpected choices such as a "Morning Burger", a Pork Belly Cuban Sandwich, Duck confit Panini and several imaginative salads. Today I ordered the Salmon BLT which is served open-faced with Applewood smoked bacon, spring mix greens, pesto aioli on lightly grilled focaccia and my choice of side (I chose Brunch Potatoes -- lots of oven roasted and nicely seasoned chunks.) Hubby got Stuffed French Toast with a raspberry cream cheese filling, custard sauce and brown sugar. Now that might just be the next thing I order! Yum! The food was very good and our server was friendly and helpful and made sure to refill my iced tea when it was low. Baked in Kansas City has been in this space for about six months and I'm really happy to see this building updated, with an expanded indoor dining area and several umbrella topped tables on the outdoor patio overlooking Westport Road. I am already plotting a return trip to Baked in Kansas City as soon as possible. Next time I want to save a little room to try one of the beautiful fruit tarts, assorted custard cups or a beautiful baked item from the glass cases up front that have been there since the days that Napoleon's dominated that particular block on Westport Road. Next trip to Westport, I'm thinking: Baked in Kansas City. Yes, it's that good!

I can't give 5 stars despite the good quality of the food due to the fact I couldn't get my first order (ran out of avocado). With that being said I got the salmon eggs Benedict with potato's and it was very good. In all honesty - this restaurant has some of the best breakfast potatoes I've had. Menu only has about 10 sets and it's not going to overwhelm you but all the food seems to be fresh and tasty

It's hard to rate a business when the food was great but the service was horrible! Ok, here it goes. Why not tell the table that you are out of seven menu items when you hand out the menu? When the table is looking at the menu? No, she waited to tell us as she came to take the order. It was 2 in the afternoon so I assumed that we were late in the day and they had sold out of quite a few things, but no, they were going to be open til 6 that evening! They might have a crouton as an option by then. The waitress only became available and friendly when it was closer to paying the check. The wait time for our food was loooong. A lot of staff all around but not doing much and trying to avoid eye contact with the customers. People kept going to the bakery counter and it was amazing watching the staff trying not to make eye contact with the people looking and wanting to inquire about the pastries and goods in the glass cases. Amusing, yes......good, no. The food was great once we got it, it was everything else that made this a Meh experience. I didn't think that "Baked" in KC was a stoner reference, but I'm starting to question if thats the case or not. Sober up people and live up to your potential.

I've been here three times in the last three months for brunch/lunch. Here are the things I like about the place: 1. Location is very convenient for me. 2. I've never had to wait for a table 3. Love the outside patio. Here's what I don't like: The service is inconsistent and often slow. One time we went in and we weren't told about specials. We heard our server telling another table about the specials and wondered why she didn't tell us. Two out of the three visits our service was just downright slow. My most recent visit was last weekend. I was with a group of friends and there were 5 of us. We were seated right away (yay!), but one person got a Coke with no carbonation, it took 30 mins to get one cup of coffee, and it took 55 mins to get our meals. FIfty Five Minutes! You know how when you are sitting in a restaurant thinking, "Wow. We've had a good long time to chat. We've been patient and enjoying each other's company, now where the heck is our food and what is going on?" It was like that. One friend had to leave before the check came so she could make it to work on time. Our server did bring us a large croissant and a mini coffee cake to compensate for our long wait, but didn't have any explanation for what was going on. Were they short staffed? Issues in the kitchen? The restaurant was not filled to capacity and there were not throngs of people waiting to be seated. My friends and I are all pretty diplomatic and patient people. We still had fun together but were pretty irritated by the time we left. I may go back just because I like the location and patio, but I'll definitely remove it from the top of my list of favorite places for brunch.

I have now been here 3 times. Impressed each time. Breakfast is great-- my mom said it was the best vegetarian quiche she has ever had, the duck confit sandwich was unique and wonderful and the salmon is cooked perfectly in the salmon BLT, plus the danishes are worth the trip alone. The service has been stellar each time. This is quickly becoming a new dependable favorite!

Great place for breakfast on Sunday morning. I had the smoked pork hash with sweet potatoes, Brussel sprouts and onions. The bowl of hash and 2eggs was more than I could eat. My husband had the salmon patty eggs Benedict and didn't share. We grabbed a cookie and chocolate croissant for the road.

I like Baked! I've brunched here before - the biscuits and gravy are amazing - so I returned for lunch last week and was less impressed. I ordered the Burnt Tomato and Zuchini salad with chicken and my mom got two different cups of soup. The food was good, but not exciting. The restaurant just had no energy at that time. It was a bit dark and there were only a couple other tables seated. Our server was fine until the end when I mentioned I had a Groupon, the shame! If only she had faith that I would tip well, which I did! I'll definitely give Baked another try, but maybe not for lunch.

All this excitement over Pumpkin Spice everything and I think everyone is forgetting the real shining star of Fall - APPLE CIDER. And the hot mug of spiced apple cider at Baked in Kansas City is, the pennacle of apple cider. Yelper Mom and I originally came in to grab a snack from the pastry case becuase I loved the candy bar my mom had gotten from an NPR thing a few days before. But, as per our usual behavior, were lured to the bar for a late afternoon snack. We perused the menu for a few minutes and decided to share an order of the smoked salmon bruchetta and an order of fries. And, as I described before, I ordered a mug of their hot apple cider to go along. The fries were awesome - perfectly crispy without being too salty, and the smoked salmon bruschetta was incredible. The creme fraiche that came on top was a great compliment - I only wish there was a little bit more! As we finished our food, we of course had to order the thing we had originally come in for - the Candy Bar. Now, normally, I would have noticed that what I was given was the wrong thing and asked for the right menu item, but when our waitress walked up with a pecan type bar, I ignored my original order and went with the mistake and am so glad that I did because wow. Just. wow. It was almost like a piece of pecan pie, but without so custard-like. This had more body to it, and the crust was incredible. A must try. Right along with the candy bar. Our waitress was polite and accomodating and was sure to ask if we needed anything each time she passed us. And even though she technically brought me the wrong dessert, I'll forgive it because it was a serendipitous discovery of an awesome treat. Love this place - can't wait to come back.

While I was debating between eggs Benedict and the quiche of the day, our server announced my real choice: North Atlantic Salmon served on a fall hash (sweet potatoes and a couple different fall roots). A poached egg with Hollandaise sauce topped the salmon, mitigating my craving for those eggs Benedict. In short, the brunch special was just as good as it sounded. It was the perfect combination of hearty and light. And I'm not even a huge salmon guy--usually all about that bass. The tea served here is Stash. We tried a mixed berry tart. It was very good but the crust a little too firm for my taste. Next time I'll try the coffee cake.

Solid brunch spot in Westport. Had the biscuits and gravy. Biscuits were great, gravy a little bland. My friend had the Benedict, which she thought was okay too. In a great location right by a couple hotels. Reservations can be made on opentable.com , and I highly recommend doing this. We made a 9:30am reservation, and by 10am, and the place was packed.

Let me preface by saying that there a few things that will automatically bring me out of a bad mood: 1. baked goods, 2. ice cream, 3. fresh French bread, 4. bacon. Baked has all of these things under one roof! My husband first stopped by last week to get some tarts for dessert. The lemon tart was mind-blowingly good! Then the next day, my sister and I decided to grab brunch. Everything was delicious. The French bread was crispy, hot and delicious. The bacon was perfectly cooked. Finally, this morning, I had a pain au chocolat and sausage roll. Both are highly recommended. I think the pain au chocolat may be the best I've had in KC---and I've tried just about everyone in KC's pain au chocolat. This place is so good, I've been here THREE TIMES IN ONE WEEK. I really enjoyed the French bistro motif and homey feel of the whole restaurant area. The staff is very attentive and friendly. I especially enjoyed talking to the girl who stands in the front area by the baked goods and coffee, this morning. She was so sweet and helpful. I'm really looking forward to the warmer weather, so I can enjoy brunch on their patio. I'm definitely recommending this gem to anyone who will listen to me. *Every night for two hours before closing all of their baked goods on display in the front coolers are 50% off. That's pretty awesome!

Oh my goodness. Where do I begin? Went here for Restaurant Week and all I can say is WOW. My girlfriend had the Coq au Vin, which was absolutely delightful. Perfectly cooked, with crispy (not burnt) skin, wonderfully seasoned, with leeks and mushrooms. Absolutely incredible. I had the filet, which was cooked exactly to my liking, served on top of roasted potatoes and brussels sprouts, with a large dab of herbed butter on top. Again, incredible. Even on such a limited menu, I can definitely say that we will be back. Between courses, we eyeballed the pastry case, which looked to be full of awesomeness. My girlfriend (who is a pastry chef) seemed very impressed and excited about their offerings. I feel like I should have apologized to the other diners, as the way we made out with our food must have borderlined on obscene. Our server, Paige, was VERY attentive and friendly, as was the rest of the staff that we encountered. There was a live pianist who played great music while we ate, and helped to make for an all-around wonderful dining experience. I can't say enough good things about this place. I think I have a new favorite restaurant in KC.

This bakery is blocks from my work and I tend to pass every day several time a day, I'm used to the old Napoleon sign, a bakery that has been closed down for years from what I remember. When I saw that there was a new business and it happened to be a bakery I was intrigued to try it. My first time I ordered a almond croissant and the mac and cheese. The mac and cheese is phenomenal, creamy and rich like it should be. The almond croissant was soft and the almond paste inside was sweet but not overly sweet. They had a good selection of bakery items and they have a food menu as well. The interior was casual and decorated in dark woods and purple. I will be back to try more food items but if anything, their croissants and mac and cheese are enough to have me hooked.

Baked is a great addition to Westport Road, and a solid brunch spot. The Bloody Mary was decent, but maybe a bit overpriced. I had the veggie Benedict and it was super flavorful and the hollandaise was rich and creamy without taking over the the whole dish. The hubby got the steak and egg croissant. At first he was a little disappointed by the size of the sandwich, compared to the price-point. But after finishing his meal, he was thoroughly stuffed and satisfied. We couldn't resist the pastry counter on the way out and we purchased 2 macarons for the walk home. Oh. My. God. They were so good! They were at least twice the size of your typical macaron and the filling was creamy and not too sweet. They were almost a mash-up of a macaron and a whoopie pie. Do yourself a favor and try one! Overall - good spot for the neighborhood, and I would be interested in returning for another brunch, or to try their dinner fare.

Fantastic! Loved the staff and food. As my friends will say, Guinness is my beer of choice and they have a great two stage pour - nice. Baked goods made my whole day!! Very reasonable. Outside seating is very nice and clean.

I need to come back for lunch, but we stopped by Baked this morning for a Breakfast Fix. We had the Cinnamon Rolls with decadent icing, and for 2.50 a pop, what a deal. I will update when I've had lunch/dinner, but for now, lets get the word out and get people HERE.

It's not that anything about this place was over-the-top bad. There just wasn't much that was good about it. Party of 4, we ordered a very delicious bottle of wine. 25 minutes for entrees isn't terrible, but if they're cold when they come out? I was ticked to say the least. My fiancee's eggs were cold, as were my goose fat fries, and my friend's pannini. The tiny sandwiches were dwarfed by massive sides. When the waiter came by 10 minutes after entree delivery to check on us, he didn't even give us a chance to answer his questions before quite literally running away! I found him up at the bar of the (mostly empty) restaurant and gave him our complaints. He took half of 2 of our entree prices off the tab, but it didn't do much for me. They tried hard, and for that I gave them an extra star, but I for sure will not be back.

Went here in February for dinner with my bf and we were both super impressed! For an appetizer we split the deviled egg trio, which was very tasty and featured some really interesting takes on the traditional deviled egg. Yum! For main course, we both had the butternut squash filet, which was so good, I would easily go back for it any day of the week! We finished the meal with one of the fresh baked goods from the display case. Deciding which to get was probably the toughest part! The service was great! Everyone we encountered was super friendly. I'd love to check this place out for breakfast or lunch! Overall, great food, great experience, and we will definitely be back.

We were told to seat ourselves and after nobody approached the table for over 10 minutes had to finally go get menus ourselves. Another ten minutes goes by and finally a waitress comes to take a drink order which then took another 10 minutes to arrive so we could finally order. We never saw the waitress again and had to get drinks refilled by approaching the bakery up front. Also had to start putting on coats and stand to then finally get the check. The waitress spent most of her time chatting with some people at a nearby table about when she attended Pembroke. We won't be back.

Worst experience I've had in years. Went the first full day of restaurant week. Some of us ordered off the regular menu, others from the special restaurant week menu. The 2nd course of the special came out first, with no other food for the others in our party. Then the appetizers came, but not the right ones. My wife ordered an egg sandwich and fruit cup, but what she got was a sandwich made of overeasy eggs and some grapes. Two guests ordered shrimp and grits - the shrimp is in the grits but it's not peeled. I guess I could understand un-peeled shrimp on the side, but pushed into the grits?? wtf?? Most of the food was edible but by the time we got it our waitress was done with us and we were done with baked in KC. I thought the title was a reference to the bakery part, but now I think the management is high. This is not a restaurant with baked goods, it's a bakery that makes a few meals. I hope they never participate in RESTAURANT week again.

Our server was great but it was obvious they were way too understaffed for Saturday brunch! The whole atmosphere stressed me out! It seems like management needs to get organized and focus on giving their employees the support they need to be successful.

Sadly not very impressed with this place. We walked in and waited at least 10 minutes for our waiter. Then when our food was brought out The French dip was missing the au jus & I noticed I had a dirty glass, but both took very long to get. I had finished my meal before I received my clean glass of water. The French dip entree was bland and a sandwich only....no fries or slaw. The shrimp and grits was lacking in salt and the shrimp had been boiled instead of sautéed which I thought was a bit strange, plus it needed more of the ancho sauce. I asked the waiter to send the manager over and it took a while for him to come over also, but probably more due to the fact the waiter held off telling him. The manager was very kind and asked what he could do to make it better, but since we had already paid our bill I just told him I was wanting to purchase a loaf of bread before leaving and he gladly gave us one. The bread on the sandwich was very good so we're excited to try it this evening. We might come back & try breakfast sometime I'll just remember to ask for another waiter if I get the same guy.

Yuck. It sucks to do this, but today took the cake. While the baked goods case is amazing, this place needs to take a serious look at the way they are running things. They were not busy this morning, but it still took us over an hour and a half from the time we were seated until we left. I'm all about a leisurely brunch, but if we're doing that, then fill my waters more than NEVER. Refill my coffee with HOT coffee more than ONCE. And to add insult to injury, after waiting about 45 minutes for our "fantastic" food, my husband and I both got waaaay overdone burgers (ordered medium, came out well done). Our goose fat fries that were an up-charge of $1 tasted...like regular old fries, and they were soggy. Our waitress, aside from not refilling our drinks enough, was just unenthusiastic. I don't need someone spinning cartwheels, but at least try to look like you enjoy your job a LITTLE. Oh, and I'd say I'll be back because the macarons are great, but no. The girl at the counter inexplicably could not give me CHANGE for my cash purchase. Um...what?!? It was only a few cents, but??? Get it together, Baked. Your food was worth the abysmal service, but even that wasn't on par today.

I'm writing this realizing that they're brand new - and need some time to get their feet under them at first. We also went towards the end of the day and most of the bakery had sold out. I will be back to give them another try and re-post. Great location, and was decorated nicely with a somewhat French look to the place. The staff us was also very friendly and helpful, although I think she needed a little help since the phone was ringing and there were customers in line, plus the register to be managed. I wish I had more sweets to discuss, but about all that was left were some lemon tarts, several things with pralines, a chocolate roulade, some breads and cookies. We had a lemon tart and a white chip praline cookie. I liked the cookie pretty well, nice size, good flavor. I was a little disappointed with the lemon tart though and it was because the tart shell was very thick compared to the lemon filling (not sure if it was considered a lemon curd or more of a mousse). The lemon could have been a bit better, but again end of the day, some desserts just don't stand up for a whole day in a case. Also, hooray, a Bakery with Beer!!! Lots of Boulevard and a few other craft type beers, good call there. Overall, pretty good experience - I'd like to see once they've established themselves just a bit longer.

Had lunch today for the first time. I chose the Chicken Salad Sandwich with roasted sweet potatoes. My friend selected the soup and sandwich combo with Vegetarian Lentil soup and Lamb Sausage Slider with snap peas. My Chicken Salad sandwich was delicious and had a unique flavor. Usually it's made with a mayonnaise, but they used a vinaigrette that had a good flavor punch. My sweet potato wedges were perfect. We couldn't resist dessert, so we had fig coffee cake and madeleines. Wow! Both were melt-in-your-mouth good with our coffee. Prices were reasonable, the place was very pleasant, and they have their own parking lot across Westport Road -- very important in this part of town. We'll definitely be back.

Been to baked twice so far and love it. First time was valentines day we both ordered off the special menu and were not disappointed. I had a perfectly cooked steak that melted in my mouth and was full of flavor. My date had very large portion of the fish which she devoured. The service was great as well as the atmosphere. I can't remember what starters or desserts we had but they helped make my meal so amazing. 2nd visit we met so e friends there for drinks and they sure know how to mix a whiskey cocktail they do their own barrel aging in house. For food we got the truffle fries and the Mac and cheese. I recommend dipping the fries in your Mac and cheese. Keep on making it great baked. I will be back soon.

Delicious brunch! We had a round of mimosas that were very generous. Ambience is great. Only complaint: the service was a little weird. Our waitress messed up our orders several times--but she always tried to compensate for it which was appreciated.

This review will be short. Been here twice. It's great so far. Awesome pastries and coffee. Everyone was very pleasant too. Haven't tried enough on the menu to give it five stars yet. Anyway, this place is just what Westport needed. I sincerely wish them the best.

delicious food, pleasant quiet atmosphere, friendly fast competent service. worth a visit. things I ate: Homemade candy bar with a layer of peanut, a layer of caramel on top of a thin crispy layer - absolutely scrumptious.. Craquelin - brioche role with orange zest - to die for, went back for it daily while in KC. Chocolate ganache torte with raspberries- divine, plenty of fruit that was fresh and juicy, good ratio of it with the rich ganache and the shell was thin and tasted good. Kale salad with bacon - very good though a little too salty, could use some acid. Cheese plate - eggs were great, pickles very tasty, many good bites. Steak - cooked perfectly - melt in your mouth Jicama slaw -lots of fresh ginger very refreshing macaroni and cheese as a side - very creamy, tasted better the next day as leftover. lentil, sweet potato and greens soup with Moroccan seasoning - a punch of great flavor and very filling. Highly recommend this place.

My fiancé and I came to Baked because we found a Groupon and the reviews looked pretty good. In a nutshell, the service was strange (read below) and the food was ok (should have been better for the price). A little confusing on the prices, as they seem to try to mix bakery prices with fine dining prices (a brownie from the counter was $5.50). Earlier that evening, Baked had experienced a power outage which seemed to have caused a lot of issues(?). After sitting down for a little while, our sever, Aaron came over and asked us what we would like to drink. Soon after, a female sever asked us what she could get us. We told her that Aaron had already taken our drink order and then she walked away, confused. The same female server went to the table next to us and asked them what she could get for them, even though Aaron had also already taken their order, which they told her. She proceeded to take their food orders anyway. On the other side of us, the same server confusion happened. The female server and the manager also had to come apologize to the table behind us (tables are very close together and not very private). Later, the female server mistakenly brought us the food of the people to the right of us and even spilt the woman's wine all over my legs and shoes and did not apologize to me or clean it up off the ground. Strange things continued to happen with this server. She forgot to bring the soup of the women to the left of us, even after they asked her 3 times (no exaggeration). At the end, she said "I will bring you something better than soup" and let them choose a dessert, meanwhile, charging them for the soup they never got. The ladies did not complain, as they said the dessert probably cost around the same as the soup. Wow, nice ladies. At the end, the female server apologized and said that she wanted to buy us a dessert for all the confusion that had gone on. After we picked out our desserts, they ended up still being on our check and there was a lot of confusion surrounding the process of her buying the desserts. Poor Aaron had to collect all of the checks for her tables and sort out all the confusion, as she was sent home. Aaron was great and very patient. The manager never checked on our tables after the server had gone home. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, as that was the most awkward experience we have ever had at a restaurant before. ***UPDATE: we received a very nice reply from the owner in our inbox after he read this review. It sounds like they have their wait staff under control now and that the service issue has been resolved. Since he was so polite, professional, and apologetic, we would give Baked another try if we are ever back in Kansas City.

First and foremost, the baked goods are fantastic. Our party of 4 arrived and was seated promptly for a Saturday morning breakfast. The prime rib hash was very good, service was a little slow but pleasant and friendly. The one thing that makes me nervous about this place is that they may be trying to do too much. Three meals, bar, ice cream, and bakery all under one roof. I hope to see them focus their attention on what they do best, pastries!

I have been to Baked three times now and it has been wonderful every time. All of my visits have been for brunch and always with a group of four. Service has always been quick and friendly, as for the food it has been amazing every time. They do a wonderful salmon BLT. I will be back and next time would like to try the dinner menu, I have heard good things about it too.

We decided to try one of the newer places in Westport tonight. We finally settled on Baked. As we sat down we both noticed that the restaurant was really cold and drafty, but it's a rainy April night, so I'll give them a freebie there. We ordered the deviled eggs trio as an appetizer. One was a fried deviled egg - it looked promising, but it was not good. It was overcooked and the egg white was hard had turned a weird brown color. There wasn't much flavor either. I had a glass of red wine and we asked for recommendations. I took the waitresses advice and had the steak frites, medium. It was....Ick. The steak was fatty, stringy, difficult to cut and even more difficult to chew. The vegetables that came with it were quite good - though it's hard to mess up sautéed spinach and roasted sweet potatoes. But, for $20, I was extremely disappointed. For $20, I could have had an amazing meal at Pot Pie next door or two delicious burgers across the street Westport Flea Market! To top it off, the waitress brought us our check without asking if we'd like a second glass of wine or dessert. She just brought us our check. I might still check it out for brunch sometime since the reviews for that meal look decent. But only if the lines elsewhere in Westport are too long! But we will not be back for dinner.

I've been in several times for coffee and pastries. They're still working out the bugs to be sure but the savory croissant/pastry w/bacon and cheddar is amazing. If anything, Baked is suffering from an identity crisis. Is this a coffee shop? Is this a bakery? Is this a full service restaurant? Yes to all some of the time. Given time, I hope it all comes together. Will definitely go back.

I went to Baked in KC for brunch today, Sunday, at about 11am. After being seated on the patio it took about 10 minutes for a waiter to even come greet us and get drink orders, and they were not very busy. The server was very slow and unenthusiastic. We ordered everything at once because we were ready by then and it took over 35 minutes to get our food. When I finally got my veggie Benedict it was cold and had been missing the spinach I had asked for on it. My boyfriends grits were cold as well. I had to wait another 15minutes for the cook to recook the Benedict... When I got it finally it still had no spinach on it and it was dumped in hollandaise sauce ( which I had originally ordered my bene with it on the side) after scrapping almost all of the sauce off I just ate it because I was so hungry at that point. They comped the Benedict... But the service was horrible, slow, and just weird. The food was nothing great at all. I have been to a lot of brunch places in KC and this was by far the worst. Never going back.

I agree with another reviewer that the place is brand new and needs time to get it's sea legs BUT I truly am very unimpressed with the quality and selection of offerings in this bake shop. I purchased several items- a Napoleon, a scone, and one of the Bolivian pastries filled with potatoes and chicken. The Napolean, though pretty had absolutely no flavor, made worse by it's spongy, gelatinous texture. The scone was dry and tough and the Bolivian pastry was filled with WAY too sweet mushy potatoes and virtually no chicken and encased in another tough pastry. The other offerings, again though reasonably pretty in appearance were unoriginal and basically "cookbook" options straight out of what I presume is some culinary school. Needs lots of work but I am willing to give it another chance. I will also add that I arrived early on the day I went when I assume the pastries should have been at their freshest.
